WORKING FOR MORE OFF ROAD RIDING.
‘HELP US TO HELP YOU’
With busy roads and the popularity of horse-riding, South West Riders was formed in 2001 to raise the profile of horse-riding and to inform & influence Devon County Council (DCC) policy. This includes the multi-use of all tracks, the improvement of the fragmented network of bridleways, and the issue of lack of safe crossing points on busy roads.
To this end, we have lobbied local MPs and Ministers, DCC and other agencies such as the Forestry Commission.
We are active in Devon and Cornwall.
We have a good working relationship with Devon County Council Public Rights of Way and Highways Departments and regularly have meetings about the provision of recreational routes.
We have a large and active membership but we need many more if we are to achieve our aim “to make riding safer for everybody”.
